Closeness in the Now

Closeness in the Now
The corona pandemic has given us much time and space for self-reflection. This project uses surveys to examine ideas of closeness in times of social distancing: What is our fundamental understanding of closeness? How did it need to be restructured during the lockdowns? To approach these questions I employed unconventional interview methods (expressing feelings through songs/images) and online surveys (multiple choice questions). The ideas of closeness were visualized in a book. In the process, I experimented with the possibilities offered by riso print. In addition to this “atmospheric picture”, the focus was on my personal feelings: “Closeness in the NOW” is a private examination of a subject that is central to many of us.

Born in Munich in 1995. After completing my bachelor’s degree in communication design, I moved to my new adopted home Linz for my master’s degree in visual communication. As a designer I appreciate the function of the visual mediator as well as the process behind the graphic realisation of concepts and ideas.
