North-Northeast 22° – Linz Main Square
North-Northeast 22° – Linz Main Square
PROJECT BY Anne Rotter
The north-northeast path from Main Square in Linz first led me along the urban section of the Danube. Next to me, the buildings rose up high. Further along the river, I was in a local recreational area. After an underpass, I passed an area that was strange and mysterious to me. I wondered: Is this still Linz? Residential areas alternating with commercial buildings and farmland, single-family homes and garages with tower blocks. I passed through different landscapes, from rural to small-town – terrain: ascending. I reached a village square and church: St. Magdalena. Further uphill I finally crossed the city limits and came to a small farming settlement. The higher I went up, the smaller the buildings around me. I took a look back: Linz had become insignificantly small. On the horizon, behind the tiny “urban dot”, I had a clear look at the Alps.
