South-Southeast 157,5° – The Ground

PROJECT BY Julien ReinharDt

Finding a path free of barriers is not a matter of course for a hiking and ambling person. In a town like Linz that definitely thinks of the car as the primary means of transportation, taking a walk to the city limits is nevertheless possible and unproblematic: Most of the time on my way from Main Square to the periphery, I was walking on paved ways constructed for pedestrians. Bound south-southeast, even the big incisions into the urban fabric, such as highways and rivers, could be crossed without any problem or navigation. Taking a walk makes you aware that the human being’s “natural” way of locomotion is going on foot. What’s more, keeping an eye out during the hike leads to the realization: The surroundings are in constant change, but the ground stays the same.
